Image Handling TipsBelow are some tips to make your experience with our site as smooth as possible.Image Resolution & Format
The images you see here are high quality JPGs, rendered at 300 dpi, but the art you license may be provided in TIFF, PDF, PhotoShop, or any other format you desire. At 300 dpi, the images are perfect for print use as soon as you download them. If you wish to convert one of these high-res images for web use, you will need to change the resolution to 72 or 96 dpi. See below for how to do this. Image dimensions range up to 4096 pixels x 4096 pixels, which translates to 13.65" square when printed at 300 dpi. Others are 4096 x 3072, which translates to 13.65" x 10.24". Most images are rectangular; some, including the mandalas, have a square aspect ratio. Dimensions and download file size are provided on each product page.
But I Need It Bigger! If you require something larger than 13.65" x 10.24" — for murals, signage or home decor, for example — please let us know. Because the original fractal art file is vector-based, there is (theoretically) no limit on the physical size of a final render, so if you need something bigger, contact us at support@fractallicious.com and we'll provide a quote for re-rendering an image at larger dimensions.
Image Comps
Please feel free to browse our galleries.
There are hundreds of images here, each in several preview sizes. The largest screen previews are 500 pixels wide and formatted for onscreen viewing. It is with considerable regret that we have disabled the ability to right-click and save these preview images — a recent measure that has proven necessary due to copyright violation problems. If you need an image for comping purposes, please contact us at support@fractallicious.com and we will be happy to make one available to you. Downloading an ImageAfter a license agreement is signed, you will be directed to a page containing a link to the image download file, a high resolution, non-watermarked version of the images you see here. You will also receive an email containing this link, and you can get back there any time by logging in to your account. To get your image, just follow these quick steps:
- Click the link provided in the confirmation email. It will open your browser and take you to the download page.
- Click the link displayed in your browser to start the download. A preview image will start to load into your browser at reduced or full size. (You can switch between sizes by clicking on the preview with the mouse pointer, which may look like a magnifying glass.)
- When the preview display has completed downloading, right-click on the image.
- Click Save Picture As... to make a permanent copy on your computer.
Note: If you do not complete the final step, you will not have saved a permanent copy on your computer
Converting an Image to Web Resolution
The images here are provided at 300 dpi, suitable for print use. If you wish to use one on the web, you will need to convert it to 96 or 72 dpi. Many tools exist for doing this. The instructions below apply to PhotoShop CS2. To convert your image, follow these steps:
- Open Photoshop or another image editor
- Before you do anything, save the file under another name (it might be a good idea to add "72 dpi" to the file name)
- Click Image, then Image Size to open the Image Size dialog box
- Make sure the Resample Image tickbox is disabled (there is no checkmark there)
- Click in the Resolution text field and change the number from 300 to 96 or 72. The image dimensions will now be much larger. (A 4096 x 3072 pixel image will be 56.9" x 42.7").
- Now, enable Resample Image, making sure that the Bicubic method is selected
- Make any necessary size adjustments in either the pixel dimensions or document size area
- Click OK to accept your changes
- Save the image again.
If you are using another image editor, you will need to follow a similar sequence of steps. If you encounter difficulty downloading or converting an image, please email us at support@fractallicious.com. We'll be glad to help.
